Challenge:
Each year, designers, illustrators and lovers of typography are encouraged to participate in ‘36 Days of Type’. The daily challenge encourages creatives to experiment with designing all 26 letters of the alphabet and the 10 single numerals. A personal project by Nina Sans and Rafa Goicoechea that was extended to the world, ‘36 Days of Type’ was also taken on as a personal project in 2023 as an opportunity to continue growing and learning.
Solution:
Notice everything! After 36 (ahem, or a few more) days, 36 unique letters and numbers were designed using a combination of illustration, Photoshop and even a potato!
With alliteration as the guide, the daily challenge was an opportunity to explore new techniques on the software, experiment with colour and most importantly, generate ideas and practice visualising concepts.
Below are some favourite letters, with the exploration continuing as they are transformed into other potential branding and design uses.
